Offset Printing Ink Use Small Details

Jan 06, 2023

Have you got the small details of the offset printing ink used? Although these small details are small, they still have a great impact on the printed product. Next, let's talk about the details of the use of offset printing ink.

1. The temperature of the ink storage place in winter and spring should be kept at about 20℃. Otherwise, the viscosity of the ink will vary greatly due to temperature changes, and the ink generally cannot be used directly in winter.

2. When adding new ink to the ink fountain, stir a few more times with the Chen ink in the ink fountain, because the Chen ink in the ink fountain is continuously squeezed by the ink fountain roller, its fluidity is already very good, the ink is relatively smooth, and the ink transfer It is also relatively uniform, and the newly added ink will cause obvious changes in the color of the printed product due to its poor fluidity.

3. The ink in the ink fountain is easy to crust due to the oxidation of air, so it should be turned frequently to prevent ink skin and ink residue from being printed.

4. To adjust the spot color ink, choose the ink that is closest to the original one, and reduce the number of inks as much as possible, otherwise it will increase the gray level of the ink and reduce the brightness of the ink and the vividness of the color.

5. The balance control of ink and wash is a dynamic process, which requires frequent observation. The speed of the machine, temperature changes, the size of the graphics and text, and the different types of paper will make the ink and water balance unable to stabilize. The printing press operator must monitor the printed product in real time and adjust the water and ink volume flexibly.

6. The addition of varnish, detackifier, etc. should be targeted, and should not exceed 5%, otherwise it will cause greasy, dirty version, decreased color saturation, dull imprinting, slow drying of the ink layer and other disadvantages.

7. The drying speed of the ink is closely related to the pH value of the fountain solution, printing pressure, paper characteristics, and environmental temperature and humidity. It is also closely related to the emulsification degree of the ink, the thickness of the ink layer, the quality of the ink itself, and the drying method. When the ink drying is too slow, it is necessary to comprehensively analyze various factors and take targeted measures to ensure the drying speed of the ink. Do not simply increase the amount of powder sprayed, otherwise it will affect the print quality.

8. When the ink is excessively emulsified, the viscosity of the ink will be greatly reduced, which will cause the following several color groups to produce ink mixing, lower overprinting rate, and dry imprinting. If you are forced to increase the amount of ink in order to chase the color of the original, you must pay attention to controlling the balance of ink and water and strive to stabilize the color of the printed product.
